Bournemouth's Defending Masterclass

This week the focus was on Compact defending looking at AFC Bournemouth’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Eddie Howe’s team remained very compact throughout looking to frustrate Chelsea’s attacking play

Key features 

-forcing backwards and sideways 

-compactness, very little space for Chelsea to penetrate 

-forcing long

-shots from distance 

-intercepting passes with good positioning 

- clearing crosses when they came in

-keeper called upon when required.

This was an excellent display of a team setting up to defend and hit on the counter. The game plan worked very well through excellent organization a desire to work as a team, bravery and courage to play for each other.
