Part 3: Leeds United Exposed
In Part three of our Leeds United analysis we focus on the vulnerability of Bielsa’s men in transition.
At the recent 6-2 loss vs Manchester United Leeds were very exposed on turnover of possession. A big problem they face is
Both full backs attack and are exposed on turnover
defending with just 1 midfield player
Defensive midfielder vacating position leaving center backs exposed
Leeds are a full throttle side and when possession is lost they become very vulnerable. Both center backs defend 1v1 a lot or sometimes a man down.
Man United punished Leeds time and time again on the break.
One thing is for sure is Leeds are very entertaining as discussed in previous articles. However with the most goals conceded in the premier League this term they must do better in certain games when defending.
This can be done by, perhaps one full back stays back while other goes or play with a second holding player. Being able to adapt in games is something that they need to add to their repertoire. When attacking with so many players there must be more caution especially when playing against top opposition.
